Singers 16+ who are fairly confident in their music-reading skills and/or have at least some previous vocal experience
Students in choir, musical theater, a band, etc
Adult learners who are brand new to this and want to advance quickly
What to expect: These lessons focus much less on the theory of music and more on the specifics of technique, vocal function, and expression. Students may be asked to learn a song in a foreign language (Italian, French, German, Latin, etc). They will learn at least four songs in a semester, and will choose two of them to perform and the studio recital at the end.

More detailed analysis of vocal function
Singing posture
Breathing and breath control
Release of unnecessary tension
Vocal onset and release

Recommended for:
Singers preparing for a specific event, whether it is an audition, a festival, a concert, or a competition
Adult learners looking to brush up on their technique without a weekly commitment
Singer/songwriters looking for feedback on one of their songs
What to expect: Singers preparing for a performance or event should come ready to sing through their material, and must bring an extra copy of the music for the instructor. If the student is new to Sapphire Music Studio, some time will be spent in warmups or exercises so that the instructor can hear the student's voice outside of musical context. Adult learners do not need to have anything prepared, unless talked about in previous lessons.
The following topics are often covered in these lessons:
Overall understanding of vocal function
Breathing & breath control
Release of unnecessary tension
Problem-solving
Diction, including foreign language diction, if applicable
Phrasing
Artistic expression
Character building
Managing performance anxiety
$50 per session, scheduled individually.
Recommended for:
Brand-new learners curious to see if voice lessons are right for them
More experienced singers wanting to try a lesson before they commit
What to expect: This 30-minute trial lesson will broken into three sections: 10 minutes of introduction, with the student outlining what they are looking for in lessons and what experience they have; 10 minutes of warmups and exercises to help the instructor hear what their voice can do; and 10 minutes working on a sample song.
Due to the brevity of trial lessons, there is not often time to dive into specific vocal topics. The purpose is, rather, for the instructor to get to know the student and their voice, and for the student to have an idea of what a lesson will be like before they commit to them every week.
$25 (one trial lesson per student).
