the fine print
Although the guidance of a voice teacher is imperative to development of skill, ultimately the student is responsible for their own growth. We have outlined student expectations that we believe will facilitate progress and self-motivation.
Materials:
All students must come to their lessons prepared with the following:
A pencil and a three-ring binder to hold music and handouts OR
A digital tablet on which they access all music and handouts. (Note: cell phones are not a substitute for tablets)
A filled water bottle
We reserve the right to refuse a lesson to a student who arrives for their scheduled time without one of these items. The lesson will not be rescheduled or refunded.
Attendance:
Consistency is the key to progress. Students are highly encouraged to attend every lesson for which they are scheduled. Missing more than 4 lessons in a semester without prior communication may result in the student being unable to perform in the semester-end studio showcase. Students are expected to arrive at their scheduled lessons promptly. If a student is more than 10 minutes late for a 30-minute lesson or 15 minutes late for a 60-minute lesson, they forfeit the lesson and no refund will be issued.
Cancellation:
If a student is unable to make their lesson, their instructor must be notified at least 24 hours before their scheduled time. Missed lessons will be offered a makeup time or a refund. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or no-shows are not eligible for rescheduling or a refund. If a student cancels a coaching session with less than 24 hours’ notice, they will be charged for the session. Students with more than 3 unexcused or late-notice absences may be subject to lesson termination.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice due to sudden illness or emergency circumstances may be made up or refunded at the instructor’s discretion.
Lessons cancelled by the instructor due to illness or weather-related travel concerns will be made up or refunded.
Practice:
Practice is an indispensable part of the learning process. Students are expected to practice their material outside of lesson time.
Students taking 30-minute lessons may follow these guidelines:
Warm up for 5 minutes
Practice for 10-15 minutes
Repeat 3-5 days per week
Students taking 60-minute lessons may follow these guidelines:
Warm up for 10 minutes
Practice for 20-35 minutes
Repeat 3-5 days per week
An instructor can tell when a student hasn’t practiced. Regular practice is key to achieving a student’s goals and building good singing habits.
Tuition:
Lessons are billed monthly, unless other arrangements have been made with the instructor. Tuition is due by the 7th of each month. A $25 late fee will be added to tuition paid after the due date. If tuition goes unpaid for 30 days, lessons will be terminated.
30-minute lessons: $140 per month (4 lessons)
60-minute lessons: $240 per month (4 lessons)
45-minute coaching session: $50, due at start of session
